Possible locations and recce shots of each

Possible filming locations

Attempting to find a location appropriate for the task in hand proved more difficult than we first thought. We are really specific with what we want, as we have a clear vision as to what we want the final footage to look life. So this task did prove quite difficult.

Our first, and most obvious choice was to look at all of our group members houses. This way, we could start to eliminate our choices if the location seemed to pose a problem to production.

Firstly, we considered Izzy's house. However, we realised that her bedroom is situated downstairs, and also doesn't provide much natural lighting due to a skylight.  Izzy also realised that she doesn't have a plain wall suitable for sticking up all of the photos and newspaper clippings. Her bed also takes up the majority of the floor space and so filming with 4 people as well as the filming equipment wouldn't be a good idea, therefore this location wasn't appropriate. Next, we looked at possibly filming at Tammy's house. One positive of filming at her house would have been that she does have a mirrored cabinet, however her shower doesn't have a glass door. We also soon realised that her bedroom has a mirrored wardrobe, and so already this posed as a problem because we would only be able to film in certain angles, which would have limited the shots which we could have used. On top of this, her bedroom has bright, floral wallpaper and so this this wouldn't have fit our narrative, as it does appear more feminine, and our antagonist is a male. This wouldn't have added to the verisimilitude of the opening thriller sequence, and so this location isn't appropriate either. Images of Tammy's house shown below:

Naturally, we then considered filming at my house, which appeared to be a perfect location, as I have a mirrored cabinet, a glass shower, and a spacious bedroom with a good amount of wall space, and a big window, so the room is usually flooded with plenty of natural light. Unfortunately, with carrying around lots of equipment, it is likely that we could scratch a wall accidentally, and my house has very recently been decorated. So this then was deemed a problem. Here are images of my house displayed below:

Thankfully, our good friend Frankie kindly offered to let us use her house, as it is very spacious, decorated in light colours and so has plenty of natural light, and plenty of room for the 3 of us filming and our actor, and all the equipment. Her bedroom is spacious and decorated in neutral colours, which therefore makes the room not look too feminine. She also has a spare wall, as well as a suitable bathroom with a glass shower and a mirrored cabinet. This location ticks all the boxes and meets all the requirements of our narrative.
